Irish Soda Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 ½ cups SR flour, plus extra
- 2 tbs Raw Earth
- 1 tsp bicarb soda
- 30g butter, chilled and cubed
- ½ cup rolled oats, plus extra
Method
- Combine the flour, soda, and raw earth. Place in a food processor with the cubed butter and process until it forms coarse breadcrumbs. Place in a mixing bowl. Add the oats. Pour in the buttermilk and bring together using a butter knife.
- Adding a little extra flour, lightly knead.
- Form into a flat ball and then slice a deep cross in the top of the bread. Place onna lightly floured baking tray. Sprinkle with extra oats and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown
Serves 6-8 – Prep: 15 Minutes – Cook: 30 Minutes
